ABSTRACT: Digital ecosystems and mental health have become deeply interconnected in the contemporary era. Technological advances have created a complex and constantly evolving digital landscape in which human interactions, information exchange, and experiences increasingly occur online. This new environment has had a significant impact on mental health, generating both opportunities and challenges that require careful examination. Digital ecosystems, including social media platforms, mobile applications, websites, and other forms of online interaction, have transformed the ways people communicate, access information, and entertain themselves. These digital tools have enabled instant connections with individuals worldwide and facilitated access to diverse sources of information. However, constant connectivity has also contributed to information overload, ongoing social comparison, and the perception that online life is a direct reflection of reality. In the field of mental health, excessive and unhealthy use of digital technologies has been associated with issues such as anxiety, depression, and loneliness. The pressure to remain constantly connected, maintain an idealized image on social media, and continuously engage with polarized news and opinions can trigger negative emotional responses. Furthermore, screen addiction and reduced face-to-face interactions may contribute to diminished social skills and increased social isolation. At the same time, digital ecosystems have demonstrated their potential to support mental health. Online applications and platforms can provide self-help tools, virtual therapy services, and access to educational resources on mental well-being. Virtual connectivity can serve as a vital resource for individuals who face barriers to accessing traditional mental health services. Addressing the challenges associated with digital ecosystems and mental health requires a balanced approach. Digital literacy, which includes education on the healthy use of technology, is essential for empowering individuals to navigate online environments critically and responsibly. Establishing limits on screen time, encouraging periodic disconnection, and cultivating offline relationships are key strategies for maintaining mental well-being in a digital world.
