ABSTRACT: Equity in education is a fundamental principle. Having a child and adolescent policy in public universities helps ensure that children and adolescents have equal opportunities to access higher education, regardless of their socioeconomic background or family situation. Childhood and adolescence are critical stages in an individual's development. Such a policy can focus on providing comprehensive care that not only emphasizes academic aspects but also addresses the social, emotional, and well-being needs of young people. Diversity is an inherent characteristic of childhood and adolescence. Public universities should be inclusive and respectful of the diversity among their students, including those who are children or adolescents. A specific policy can promote an inclusive and diverse environment. Many university students are parents. Having policies related to children and adolescents can help provide support and resources to these families so they can balance their academic and family responsibilities. Childhood and adolescence are periods when talents and skills can be identified and fostered. Universities can play a role in the early development of these talents through academic programs and extracurricular activities. A child and adolescent policy in public universities can also promote research in areas related to youth and encourage the institution's social responsibility towards the community. Children and adolescents have specific rights that must be respected, including the right to education. A clear policy in this regard can help ensure the fulfillment of these rights.
