ABSTRACT: The right to peace education derives from the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It establishes that all individuals have the right to an education that promotes mutual understanding, tolerance, friendship, and peace among all nations and ethnic groups. Peace education is not limited to the absence of conflict; rather, it focuses on the active construction of a culture of peace. The primary objective of peace education is to promote tolerance and nonviolence. This involves teaching individuals to resolve conflicts peacefully, respect human rights, and value cultural and ethnic diversity. It seeks to cultivate critical awareness and active citizenship aimed at preventing violence and promoting justice. Educational institutions and governments play a fundamental role in promoting peace education. They must provide curricula that include topics related to peace, human rights, and conflict resolution. In addition, they should foster an inclusive and discrimination-free school environment. Peace education is not only a human right but also contributes to peace and security at the international level. Promoting mutual understanding and cooperation among nations can help prevent conflicts and encourage peaceful coexistence. This is essential in a world marked by global challenges.
