ABSTRACT: The biggest problem of Costa Rican secondary education is the teaching of mathematics. This is demonstrated by the results of the tests of the Bachillerato exam: the subject that has consistently obtained the lowest promotions is mathematical, to the point of having been called "A stone in the shoe ...". This reality has become a source of frustration not only for students and parents, but for the teachers themselves and the government. The Sin Fronteras project emerges as an alternative to improve the teaching of mathematics in secondary school through the professional training of its teachers. Among the causes of low performance is this subject we can mention: insufficient theoretical, and didactic training of teachers, bad study habits among school students, fear and aversion to mathematics, lack of innovation in the classes. This variety of problems requires novel and integral solutions. Sin Fronteras aims to train the teacher both in subjects related to mathematics, as well as in the novel application of teaching techniques and in the use of new communication and information technologies both for their training and for the enrichment of the practice teacher.
