Rutas para potenciar factores de protección desde el espacio físico del ámbito familiar y escolar para promover un desarrollo óptimo en la niñez del nivel inicial.

Abstract

Explorando los espacios físicos de los entornos educativos y domésticos en que se desenvuelve la niñez del nivel inicial, es un proyecto de investigación que se desarrolló desde el Instituto de Investigación en Educación (INIE) de la Universidad de Costa Rica; del 2015 al 2017, en tres contextos: rural, rubano e indígena del cantón de Turrialba. El estudio parte de la premisa de que el entorno es un factor que contribuye al desarrollo y bienestar para las niñas y los niños, al considerar que tanto el doméstico (hogar) como el educativo (asumido como el escolar), constituyen dos de los espacios de vital importancia, pues en ellos pasan la mayor parte de su tiempo y dependiendo de las características y oportunidades que ofrezcan a la niñez pueden posibilitar o limitar su desarrollo integral. Reconociendo la relación tan estrecha que existe entre el bienestar infantil y el desarrollo de las niñas y de los niños, se vuelve fundamental, como lo señala UNICEF (2010, p.27) “indagar sobre los aspectos de la vida que más inciden en los niveles de bienestar infantil, para comprender qué es lo más importante para los niños y hacia dónde dirigir nuestra atención y actuaciones”. En este sentido el INIE, apostó a este estudio para generar insumos para que los entornos domésticos y educativos avancen a constituirse en espacios potenciadores, que promuevan y faciliten el desarrollo de la niñez. A partir de cinco hallazgos de la investigación, se derivan dos rutas para cada uno de ellos, para un total de diez, con el propósito de que los grupos familiares y el profesorado de centros infantiles puedan tomarlas de base para generar acciones de mejora sustantiva desde el espacio físico del entorno doméstico y educativo para generar bienestar a la población infantil.

ABSTRACT: Exploring the physical spaces of the educational and domestic environments in which early childhood develops is a research project developed by the Research Institute in Education (INIE) of the University of Costa Rica from 2015 to 2017 in three contexts: rural, rurban and indigenous in the canton of Turrialba. The study is based on the premise that the environment is a contributing factor to the development and well-being of children considering that both the domestic (home) and the educational (assumed as the school) constitute two of the spaces of vital importance, as they spend most of their time in them and depending on the characteristics and opportunities they offer to children can enable or limit their integral development. Recognizing the close relation that exists between child welfare and the development of children, becomes essential, as pointed out by UNICEF (2010, p. 27) “to inquire about aspects of life that impact on levels of child well-being, to understand what is most important for children and where to direct our attention and actions”. In this sense, the INIE committed itself to this study in order to generate inputs so that the domestic and educational environments move forward to become empowering spaces that promote and facilitate the development of children. From five research findings, two routes are derived for each of them for a total of ten in order for the family groups and teachers of children's centers to take them as a basis to generate actions of substantive improvement from the physical space of the domestic and educational environment to generate well-being for the child population.
