Hacia la redefinición del crédito: unidad valorativa de la carga académica del estudiante en la educación superior

Resumen
El objeto de estudio de esta investigación es el crédito académico, como la unidad valorativa de la carga académica del estudiante, se pretende revisar su definición y con base en los resultados del diagnóstico, buscar una reelaboración de su definición y la manera de calcularlo.
Para ello se hizo una serie de entrevistas a directores de distintas unidades académicas y a partir de sus comentarios surgió la necesidad de hacer un instrumento que indagara más profundamente en su concepción y uso, por parte de estudiantes y docentes. En este instrumento se tomaron como variables de estudio las implicaciones del esfuerzo estudiantil, los tipos de curso (teórico, teórico práctico y práctico) así como la percepción de los docentes acerca de las implicaciones del crédito en las estrategias de enseñanza.
Con los resultados obtenidos se vio que este era usado en la Universidad de Costa Rica para muchas otras labores y más que valorar o medir la carga académica del estudiantado, se utiliza también para calcular el costo de los cursos y para asignar becas a los estudiantes, entre otros aspectos que no son de interés en este estudio
ABSTRACT: The objective of this research is the academic load, as well as the evaluative unit of the student's academic load, it is intended to review its definition and based on the results of the diagnosis, to seek a re- elaboration of its definition and the way to calculate it. Whit this proposal, a series of interviews were conducted with directors of different academic units and from their comments arose the need to make an instrument to investigate more deeply in its conception and use, by students and teachers. In this instrument, the implications of student effort, the types of courses (theoretical, practical ) as well as teachers perception of the implications of credit in teaching strategies were taken as study variables. With the results obtained it was shown that this were used at the University of Costa Rica for many other tasks and much more than to evaluate or to meassure the academic load of the student population, it is also used to calculate the costs of the academic courses and to assign scholarships to the students, among other aspects that are not of interest in this investigation.
