Geografía e historia globales : una respuesta al problema de los contenidos del noveno año del tercer ciclo de la Educación General Básica.

Abstract

Esta investigación pretende ensayar un nuevo programa de “Geografía e historia globales”, el cual surgió como una necesidad sentida de cambiar el programa tradicional de Geografía que comprende Eurasia, Africa, Australia y Oceanía y el de Historia Universal que abarca de los albores de la humanidad a las revoluciones comercial, industrial y política (Siglo XVIII), a fin de superar una serie de fallas que se notan en cuanto a fondo y forma de presentar los contenidos que van en detrimento de los adolescentes y, en general, de la educación costarricense. Se pretendió encontrar la diferencia en el rendimiento académico y la actitud a los estudios sociales, entre los alumnos que reciben geografía e historia globales y los que reciben un programa tradicional. A las conclusiones que se llegó fueron las siguientes: El rendimiento en geografía fue significativamente mejor para los alumnos que recibieron geografía global en comparación con aquellos que la recibieron de otra forma. La actitud hacia los Estudios Sociales fue significativamente más alta en los estudiantes que recibieron Geografía e Historia Globales que en los que la recibieron en forma tradicional. Se recomienda en forma general a los profesores de Estudios Sociales y a la Asesoría de Estudios Sociales del Ministerio de Educación, considerar el programa de Geografía e Historia Globales como u posible programa para el noveno año de Educación General Básica; esto conlleva a su vez la revisión de los programas de este ciclo siguiendo la forma de selección y organización de la materia del programa nuevo. Esta labor dará, a su vez, base para un cambio en los programa del área de Estudios Sociales del IV ciclo de la Educación Diversificada.

ABSTRACT: This research aims to test a new program of "Geography and global history", which arose as a need to change the traditional program of Geography that includes Eurasia, Africa, Australia and Oceania and Universal History that covers the initiation of humanity. to the commercial, industrial and political revolutions (18th century), in order to overcome a series of imperfections that are noted in terms of substance and the way of presenting content that is detrimental to adolescents and, in general, to Costa Rican education . The aim is to find the difference in academic performance and attitude to social studies, between students who receive geography and global history and those who receive a traditional program. The reached conclusions were the following: The performance in geography was significantly better for the students who received the global geography compared to those who received the other form. Attitude toward Social Studies was significantly higher in students who received Global Geography and History than in those who received traditionally. Teachers of Social Studies and the Social Studies Department of the Ministry of Education are generally recommended to consider the Global Geography and History program as a possible program for the new year of Basic General Education; This in turn entails the revision of the programs of this cycle following the form of selection and organization of the subject of the new program. This workforce, in turn, is the basis for a change in the program of the Social Studies area of ​​the IV cycle of Diversified Education.
