ABSTRACT: This report is presented by the IIMEC to the Ministry of Education as part of a study of technical quality of the Bachelor Social Studies tests applied in 1997 by the Ministry of Public Education, to eleventh-grade students in day schools in Costa. To carry out this task, a psychometric analysis of this test was carried out first, which includes a classic analysis where an analysis of factors is applied, a statistical technique that allows identifying which are the underlying dimensions in a data set, in this case it was used to establish if the test is unidimensional in nature, that is, if it fundamentally measures a single factor or if it presents subcomponents within the general construct. On the other hand, an Item Response Theory (IRT) model was applied, in order to conclude about the psychometric properties of the items that make up the test from the point of view of their precision, their power to discriminate correctly among students with high scores, with other scores, and the skill level at which it provides the most information. Likewise, through the Theory of Response to Items, a bias analysis is carried out, where students are compared according to male sex against students according to female sex, similarly students from public schools are compared to students from private schools and students from private schools are compared. schools located in rural areas versus students from schools located in urban areas. The tests were applied with the purpose of measuring the knowledge of the students who opt for the Bachelor's degree (secondary), these were applied to a total of 19,538, to carry out the present work a sample of 4,195 was constituted for social studies, we worked with form 11, it was decided to work with this form number because it contained the most representative number of students.
