ABSTRACT: The objective of the study is to promote the participation of graduate and undergraduate student from the University of Costa Rica to conduct research in the field of education. In order to carry out the integration process, different actions were taken, which were consistent with the objectives of the project, including disseminating information to Academic Units, and postgraduate programs of the School of Education; making a public call at a university level; and selecting the participants according to: The grade point average (25%), the appropriateness and quality research proposal, as well as the feasibility of completing it in the period comprising the scholarship (55%), and the connection with INIE's programs and lines of research (20%). Once the project was selected, an induction process of the approved proposal was made, and the project was given follow-up through out the year. For that, agreements were established and commitments acquired when becoming creditor of the project. Some of the conclusions of the study are listed below: As can be highlighted, the process that has been carried out requires dissemination, evaluation and monitoring of students. The results, therefore, respond to the combination of projects and mutual collaboration between different academic units and university departments with the Institute. The student or students receive an additional support to their work and an economic resource which allows them to fulfill the assigned tasks. It should be pointed out that INIE has positioned itself, and over the years the number of final graduation project that participated increased. Initially, reaching out to academic units was done, and teacher participation was encouraged to motivate their students. For the year 2013 where 2014 was promoted, 6 research project proposals were received to opt for a degree, which is why there was difficulty having student participation. Students with scholarships were encouraged to make a significant effort to publish part or all of their research projects in articles and presentations with the potential of publishing them in academic journals of the different Schools. In addition, in some cases there was the possibility that, once they fulfilled their respective qualifications, they could submit a research project. In this respect, José Alejandro Cascante Campos, who was hired as a teacher for the School of Geography, submitted a project with INIE, and is currently doing his postgraduate studies abroad with a scholarship from the UCR.
