T: The immediate antecedent of the current research project is project 724-A2-181: public policies on education and gender equity: an analysis from Costa Rica. From this project emerged several questions that gravitated around a central axis on which the present project was based: what is the prism that allows to assess whether educational policies are designed and executed from a gender perspective in a context such as Costa Rican? The investigation was considered as an analytical-qualitative study by means of the content analysis of the discursive material of the people interviewed and the review document. The people interviewed included representatives of the feminist movement and the academy, officials of INAMU and and MEP . The investigative work was divided into three stages. The first was directed to the inventory of relevant documents. The second, to perform the analysis of these documents and later, analysis topics and structured instruments for the interview of the social agents previously selected and selected were elaborated. The third stage was the application of the interviews and their respective analysis. Among the conclusions of the project are the following: • If public policy is conceptualized as the action of the State to reassure the social conflict that is generated from the problems experienced by different people and groups, without attempting real transformations in the conditions that generate these problems, it is not possible for a Patriarchal State to promote true policies for equality between women and men. • In Costa Rica, the creation of a national mechanism (INAMU) as well as the issuance of different laws and regulations represent a significant advance in terms of equality between women and men, however, empirical evidence shows a series of patterns that reflect little will on the part of the State towards deep social transformations. • Feminism as a political action aims to undermine one of the most powerful and profound distinctions derived from Western thought and society: the separation of the public and the private, areas that are subsequently linked, the first with the objective and the second with the personal and the subjective.en
