Globally, improving the level of scientific education of the population is considered as one of the key elements for the development of countries. However, the problem of reducing scientific education to this sole purpose implies a poor conception of science as it constitutes an integral element of culture. This is how, from a more comprehensive and integrative conception of science, this research is proposed, whose problematic axis revolves around the beliefs, conceptions, knowledge and practices that biology professors have about science and the pedagogical representation of science that These teachers perform in educational practice. Given that several investigations maintain that the constructions on science that the teacher has influence their educational practice. Hence, the purpose of the research is to analyze the construction of the scientific culture of biology teachers in two different contexts of secondary education, from their conceptions and educational practices for the understanding and exercise of the pedagogical representation of the content. Since, the research problem refers to the conceptions, beliefs, practices and their manifestation in the educational contexts where the teacher works, ethnography was used as a research method whose base is the field work and the elaboration of the records. The participating subjects were two biology teachers, intentionally selected, who teach the tenth year level in public schools, academic - day mode. The analysis of the data is of a hermeneutical nature. The results of the investigation showed: that beliefs tend to be assumed as dogmas or laws, in which myth and speculation in tension with scientific knowledge are recognized; that the conceptions of science on the one hand refer to a normative notion that is canonical and apodyctic, on the other hand to a historical notion of empirical science and finally to a methodical notion of inductive science that does not recognize, or understand, the constituent elements of method; that knowledge about science tends to be flat, while they do not admit textures, articulations and variability and are attached to the contents of textbooks and finally that practices about science are limited to previous knowledge and conceptions, what reproduces in activities a restricted, limited science and attached to a decontextualized, fragmented and inert vision. In relation to the pedagogical representation it was evidenced that it is attached to the notion of curriculum, and that it does not establish bridges between disciplinary knowledge and pedagogical knowledge and vice versa. Therefore, it is concluded that the predominance of a model of transmissive teaching, as well as the presence of epistemological obstacles in the pedagogical and scientific, limit the educational practice and the forms of subjective and intersubjective construction of scientific culture, so This does not respond to the challenges imposed by the current historical, social and cultural context.en
